The person behind it
I did not start Duoria because I love travelling. A great many people love travelling.
I started it because of something I kept noticing. In almost every couple, one person plans the entire thing. They choose the dates, compare the flights, read four hundred reviews, book the table. And when they finally arrive, they are the only one who already knows what is behind every door.
They have never once been surprised by their own journey.
Duoria exists for that person.
The work is slower than it looks. For each journey I search widely, and then I begin telephoning — hotels, restaurants, the small places that never answer an email. Most of what I find does not survive that call. What reaches you is what did.
Nobody pays me except you. Not a hotel, not a restaurant, not a partner. It is the only way I know to be certain that what I recommend is what I would choose.
